      Hello, everyone. How are you doing. For a hour, I was in search of what is to be written about on my blog. A friend of mine suggested writing about nabe. I found it great because I have yet to wrote about food, which is I live for. I don't eat to live, but I live to eat.     What is your favorite nabe flavor? There is many flavors of nabe and I guess each of you has your own liking. My favorite is lib and Chinese cabbage. When I finish off the nabe, I put udon noodles or rice in the soup. I think what you put into the soup is depends on what the flavor is and your liking, so please let me know what you like to put as well as your favorite nabe flavor!       Hello, everyone. These days, we have the third term-end exams. I guess you are working hard, and so am I.     However, on every exam week, I find it difficult to keep motivated to study and prepare for the exams. I always regret not studying enough even at the entrance exam, in which I couldn't get into the university I really wanted to due to lack of preparation.  After exams are over, I swear I will study hard in my hart, but It take me only a few days to stop it.     I really want to know how to keep studying...       This year, Thanksgiving Day in the USA was November 26. I didn't know about thanksgiving day until these days, so I researched about this on the Internet.     How did thanksgiving start?  When Pilgrim Fathers came to Plymouth, they didn't know how to grow crops there and many pioneers died for its cold climate. Then a Native American tribe taught how to raise corn and supplied food. They got huge harvest the next year and they held banquet with the Native American tribe. This is said to be the origin of Thanksgiving.     In the USA, Thanksgiving Day is a holiday, more precisely, Thanksgiving Day, Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving and two following days are holidays.      Today I listened to Hiroshima University's English Podcast to find the story of Stereotypes of Japan, and then, I found 8 difficult words. The 8 words are wired, when it comes to, creepy, feel guilty, pretend, tentacle, now that you mention it and stereotypes. In short, what they said in the podcast was like when it comes to Japanese stereotypes, they had thought Japanese eat horse meat and whales and wear kimonos until they came to Japan, and they knew about tentacle things. Now that you mention it, it might be unique to Japan, although I think that kind of thing is very creepy.  By the way, I have heard that many Western people think Japan should stop killing whales, and they say "How come you don't feel guilty about eating intelligent mammals like whales?". In my opinion, survey whaling is needed to preserve resources. I know of course who has killed a ton of whales for oil and now pretend to be conscientious. How are you doing?      You are talking about holidays on Facebook, however, I cannot post stuff there, so I will write about holidays here.      What holiday do you think is unique to Japan? The idea which occured to me first was Respect-for-the-Aged Day, which we call " Keirou-no-Hi ". I googled about this holiday to confirm this is unique to Japan. And then I found I was wrong. There are some countries which have equivalent holidays to Japan. National Grandparents' Day (the USA) It falls on 2nd Sunday of  September and the concept of this holiday is the same as Japan's Respect-for-the-Aged day. La Festa Dei Nonni --Grandparents’ Day (Italy) It falls on October 2nd  Grand Fathers' Day and Grand Mothers' day (Poland) They falls on January 22nd and January 21st successively. Kangen, the music part of Gagaku is played with fixed music instruments and Bugaku is a dance performed to Kangen. Gagaku is mainly played and preserved by the Imperial Household Agency today.      Hi, every one! How's it going!      Today, I will be writing about a traditional festival which is held in the town in which I spent my childhood.      I was living in Minami-Aizu  Town and there is held a traditional festival called " Gion-Sai  " ("祇園祭"), which is one of "the 3 largest Gion-Matsuri" (" 日本三大祇園祭 "). This has been held since 1185. This has many unique features and I will introduce 2 of them today. Nanahokai-Gyoretsu (七行器行列) Nanahokai means  seven vessels and Gyoretsu  a line of people. This is the sequence in which people bring offerings to the shrine and they consist of  men in clothes of Shinto (Japanese amenism) priest   Japanese old warriors' formal wear  and women wearing traditional bride costumes.
